Kathleen Weeks

Kathleen Weeks, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and teacher, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Born on August 2, 1951, in the serene town of Norway, Maine, Kathleen's life was an enduring testament to love, laughter, and the transformative power of music and education. The daughter of Arnold and Anita Moulton, Kathleen was raised in a family that cherished community and creativity, values she carried with her throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother-in-law, Nick Morse, but her spirit lives on in the lives of her surviving family members: her devoted husband of over 20 years, Larry Weeks of Fairhope, Alabama; her loving son, Seth Doughty and his wife Missie Moeller, of Brunswick Maine and their six wonderful children, Taylor, Emma, Olivia, Jake, Ella, and Rogan, as well as Seth's father, George Doughty, also of Brunswick. Kathleen is also survived by her sisters, Darcy Morse and her daughter Angela Perkins of Oxford, Maine, and Barbara Brown and her children Bo and Tom of Ocoee, Florida. She cherished her extended family, including stepson Jim Weeks and his wife Ulla of Arlington, Virginia, and stepdaughter Pam Dorji, her sons Milan, Sonam, and Billy of Bedford, New Hampshire; stepdaughters Jessica Mena, her husband Sal, and their children Ilan and Julianna of Piscataway, New Jersey; and Melissa Burke of Biddeford, Maine and their father Jim Burke of Charleston SC. Her cousins, Lisa Heinrich and her husband Mark of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Ellen Curtis of Rockland, Maine, were dear to her heart. A proud alumna of Oxford Hills High School, Kathleen graduated in 1969 and pursued her passion for music, earning a Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 1973 and a master's degree from Middlebury College at Breadloaf. Her career as a music and drama teacher in various school departments across Maine, including Rumford, Buckfield, Oxford Hills, and Telstar, left an indelible mark on countless students. Kathleen's infectious enthusiasm and dedication inspired many children to discover their own love for music and theater, enriching lives and building futures. Kathleen's zest for life extended beyond the classroom. A born performer, she acted, sang, danced, and played piano on many stages from her time performing for our troops in Greenland with the USO to numerous shows at the Bethel Inn. Her vibrant personality shone through in her storytelling, her laughter, and her ability to find humor in every moment. She found friends and enrichment in retirement as a volunteer at the Magnolia Springs Library. She even got to meet one of her favorite children's authors Mo Willams! Between being an accomplished horticulturist and a prolific bread maker, Kathleen's gardens and kitchen were as aromatic, lively and colorful as her spirit. Her life will be celebrated on August 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of South Paris, located at 17 E Main St, South Paris, Maine. Friends and family are invited to gather in memory of a remarkable woman who brought music, joy, and laughter into the lives of everyone she met. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Kathleen's lifelong commitment to making the world a better place. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
