Kathleen Marie Buehler

September 4, 1947 — April 28, 2026

Kathleen Marie Buehler September 4, 1947 – April 28, 2026 It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Kathleen Marie Buehler, who left this world unexpectedly and suddenly on April 28, 2026, in the cherished family home she built with her beloved husband, John, in Reno, Nevada. Born on September 4, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Richard Thomas Kennedy and Eileen Florence Regan, and the sister of Donald, who preceded her in death. A life filled with love and devotion, Kathleen was the heart of her family. She was the beloved wife of the late John Alan Buehler, whom she met at Loyola University in Chicago. Their love story began in the halls of academia and blossomed into a lifetime of shared dreams and adventures. They married on June 15, 1968, and embarked on a journey that took them from the United States to Germany, where Kathleen embraced the role of an Army wife while John served as a Captain. It was in Germany that they welcomed their two sons, Sean and Brian, into the world. Kathleen's career as a registered nurse was a testament to her nurturing spirit and dedication to caring for others. She worked tirelessly to support her husband while he completed dental school and later helped manage John's dental practice in Reno, Nevada, where they settled in 1978. Kathleen's commitment to her family was unwavering; after retiring, she devoted herself to caring for her young grandchildren, ensuring they were enveloped in love and warmth while their parents worked. An alumna of Mother McAuley High School and Loyola University, Kathleen's education laid the foundation for a life of compassion and service. Her love for the outdoors was infectious; she learned to ski as an adult and taught her children the joy of skiing at Sky Tavern. Whether jogging, skiing, boating, hiking, or snowshoeing, Kathleen's adventurous spirit shone brightly. She cherished her time on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, surrounded by dear friends and the beauty of nature. Kathleen was an accomplished pianist, sharing her love for music with her grandchildren, and a voracious reader, rarely seen without a new novel in hand. She was a wonderful cook, celebrated for her holiday meals that brought family and friends together. Her presence on social media allowed her to connect with loved ones near and far, sharing cherished memories and stories. Kathleen is survived by her devoted children, Sean and Brian (Carrie) Buehler, and her treasured grandchildren, Lily, Jon, Claire, Thomas, and Callie Buehler. She leaves behind her loving siblings, Richard (Joanne) Kennedy, Sue Kovall, Nancy (Tom) Radtke, and Eileen Terry Kennedy. Kathleen's legacy of love extends to her many nieces and nephews: Tracy (Tim), Courtney (Neil), Colleen (Daniel), Adam, Aaron (Marissa), Michael (Bridget), Patrick (Sarah), and Zack (Karri). As we say goodbye to Kathleen, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart full of love, and a spirit that will forever inspire those who knew her. Her memory will live on in the laughter, love, and joy she brought to her family and friends. In honoring her life, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved John and those who went before her. A memorial service will be held to honor Kathleen's life, and details will be shared with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Kathleen's memory to a charity close to her heart. Rest in peace, Kathleen. Your light will forever guide us.
