Kay was preceded in death by her cherished life partner, Tim Hooker, with whom she shared over 40 years of love and companionship, and her dear brother James. She is survived by her loving children, Ray Quarles, Steve Quarles and his wife Arlene, and Rachel Soos and her husband Victor. Her legacy continues through her eight adored grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. Kay is also survived by her sister Edith Clark, who shared a lifetime of memories and love, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. A proud graduate of Loyola University in Chicago, she broadened her horizons by studying abroad at the prestigious Oxford University in England. Her professional life was spent at WFMT 98.7 Classical Radio, where she dedicated over 30 years as a Traffic Manager. Her colleagues remember her not only for her professionalism but also for her quick wit and the warm smile that brightened every room. Beyond her career, Kay found immense joy and fulfillment in her involvement with St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Barrington, Illinois, where she was a devoted member for over four decades. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her regular attendance at Sunday mass and her cherished role in the church choir. For Kay, St. Michael's was a second family, and her generosity knew no bounds, as she donated to numerous worthy causes over the years. Kay was a beacon of love and kindness, known for her gift of making everyone feel welcome and valued. Her family was the heart of her world, and she treasured every moment spent at casual gatherings, holidays, birthdays, weddings, and special events, creating memories that will be cherished forever. A service to celebrate Kay's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, located at 647 Dundee Ave, Barrington, IL 60010.
