Kathleen "Kathie" Heffelfinger Linville February 20, 1949 – April 8, 2026 With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Kathleen "Kathie" Heffelfinger Linville on April 8, 2026. Kathie left us surrounded by her loving family at Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital, a place where she was cared for with boundless compassion. Born on February 20, 1949, in Johnson City, NY, Kathie graced the world with her warmth, light, and boundless creativity. Kathie was the cherished daughter of the late Leon "Bud" and Elizabeth "Betty" Heffelfinger. She is predeceased by her beloved parents, whose unwavering love and guidance shaped the remarkable woman she became. Kathie's legacy of kindness and creativity lives on in her daughter, Kari Whitney, her son-in-law, Howard Whitney, and her cherished granddaughter, Gabrielle, who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Jack (Virginia) Heffelfinger, and her two adoring nieces, Lisa Kauffman and Amy Dalla Corte. A graduate of Johnson City Senior High School, Kathie's career was marked by dedication and grace. She devoted many years to the Town of Chenango Town Hall, beginning as a secretary and later serving as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 2011. Her colleagues and friends fondly remember her as "Mama L," a testament to her nurturing spirit and the warmth she shared with everyone she encountered. Kathie's life was a tapestry of vibrant colors and gentle rhythms. She found serenity in the soil, nurturing flowers with the same love she gave to her family. A proud member of The Garden Club in Castle Creek, she shared her passion for nature's beauty with her community. Her artistry extended beyond the garden; she found joy in pottery and painting, gifts she passed on to her daughter through nightly drawings on school lunch bags and a Snow White mural that transformed a childhood bedroom into a magical realm. In her later years at Elderwood Village at Vestal, Kathie found delight in the camaraderie of playing cards, BINGO, and Wii Bowling. Her volunteer efforts to set up for weekly Sunday services reflected her generous heart and enduring commitment to helping others. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital, especially Madelynn Roberts, Jason, and Dr. Masson, for the care and kindness shown to Kathie in her final days. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Kathie's life and legacy. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support from friends and community members during this difficult time. Kathie's spirit will forever be a guiding light, her laughter a melody in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten, as her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness endures in the lives she touched.
