Born on March 26, 1959, in Redmond, Oregon, Kathieen was a beacon of light and love for all who knew her. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Marilyn (Gillspie) Rice, whose nurturing spirits she embodied throughout her life. On a crisp autumn day, October 30, 1977, Kathieen married the love of her life, Raymond Carlyle. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned nearly five decades, marked by unwavering devotion and shared adventures. Their union was blessed with four wonderful children: Curtis, Adam, and Tracy Carlyle of Vancouver, Washington, and Nathaniel Carlyle of Norfolk, Virginia. Kathieen's nurturing heart extended to her role as a grandmother, where she found immense joy in doting on her grandchild, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Kathieen dedicated over 50 years of her life as a domestic engineer, crafting a warm and welcoming home filled with love and care. Her passion for horses was evident from a young age, as she became an avid horsewoman, competing in shows and gaming competitions with grace and skill. This love for equestrian pursuits later transformed into a heartfelt commitment to volunteering at Summit Equine Therapy in La Center, Washington, where she spent countless hours contributing to the well-being of both horses and individuals in need. A woman of faith and service, Kathieen was an active member of Heritage Church, where she played an integral role in the children's ministry, sharing her kindness and wisdom with the next generation. Her love for the sea was equally profound, as she worked alongside her husband as a mate on the Sea Scout ship 630 Dragon out of Vancouver, Washington, instilling a sense of adventure and discipline in young scouts. Kathieen was also a dedicated member of the American Quarter Horse Association and Scouting America, reflecting her commitment to community and the values of camaraderie and service. Her life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and dedication; she touched the lives of many through her selfless acts and warm presence. Kathieen's legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond, her devoted children, Curtis, Adam, Tracy, and Nathaniel, and her cherished grandchild. While she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved. A celebration of Kathieen's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the remarkable woman she was.
