January 8, 1925 — April 23, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Katherine Marie (McGinnis) Glazner on April 23, 2026. Katherine graced this world with her presence for 101 years, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.
Born on January 8, 1925, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Katherine was the beloved daughter of Delia Ann Bylerly and Charles Francis McGinnis. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Charles McGinnis, Jr., her sisters Mary Elizabeth McGinnis and Anna Ruth Rowe, her devoted husband Harold "Whitey" Glazner, and her cherished daughter-in-law, Joan Sanders.
Katherine's journey was marked by her unwavering dedication to family and community. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Harold, whom she married in 1963. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter and warmth. Katherine was a proud mother to her daughter Cheryl M. (Tim) Crouch of Bloomington, IN, and her son David R. Sanders of Decatur, TN. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Zachary Crouch, Chris Crouch, and Sarah Crouch, and her great-grandchildren, Makenna Crouch and Griffin Crouch, who brought her immense joy.
An alumna of Central High School, Chattanooga, Katherine graduated in 1943 and pursued secretarial studies, becoming an exceptional secretary at Central Soya for 20 years. Known for her incredible typing speed and shorthand skills, Katherine carved a niche for herself in the professional world. After moving to Marion, Ohio, she embraced the role of a homemaker, pouring her energy into her family and community.
Katherine was a stalwart member of the Methodist church and served as a "Gray" Lady volunteer at Marion General Hospital. Her dedication extended to Vacation Bible School, school events, and the Welcome Wagon, where her friendly nature and kindness shone brightly.
A woman of many talents, Katherine was an avid bowler, delighting in the sport until the age of 92. She enjoyed the camaraderie of games, whether bridge, euchre, or dominos, and found solace in the pages of books and the beauty of her garden. Her hands were never idle, creating intricate embroidery, knitting, cross-stitch, and crochet pieces, each a testament to her patience and skill. Her adventurous spirit took her across the globe, visiting all but two US states and exploring the wonders of Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the Bahamas, with Ireland and Alaska holding special places in her heart.
Katherine's kitchen was a haven of Southern warmth, her culinary skills celebrated by all who gathered at her table. She was a beacon of independence and a touch stubborn, yet her kind and friendly nature endeared her to everyone she met.
A private ceremony will honor Katherine's life, ensuring the family can reflect on her profound impact in an intimate setting. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Bloomington, IN, reflecting Katherine's enduring faith and commitment to her community.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Autumn Park Senior Living for their compassionate care and friendship, as well as to the dedicated teams at Hearthstone Health Campus and Redcrest.
Though Katherine has departed this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to inspire her family and friends. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty of a life well-lived. As we say farewell, we remember her as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, forever cherished in our hearts.
