Katherine Lucille Walker

February 8, 1928 — March 12, 2019

Katherine Lucille Walker, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on March 12, 2019. Born on February 8, 1928, in the small town of Cybur, Mississippi, Katherine lived a life rich in love, family, and faith. The cherished daughter of 1LT. Daniel Beech and Beulah Stewart, Katherine was deeply shaped by her Southern roots and the values imparted by her parents. Though they have predeceased her, their legacy of kindness and strength carried on through Katherine's life and the generations that followed. In the vibrant city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Katherine met and married the love of her life, John Curry Walker, on August 24, 1946. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and laughter, nurturing their three children: John Richard (Thersia), Janet Lee (John Duane), and Ronald Mack (Kaye). Katherine was a devoted and caring mother, always ensuring her children felt loved and supported. Katherine's heart expanded with each grandchild who joined her family, and she was blessed with seven grandchildren: Melanie Lloyd, Gregory Crider (Beverly), Christy Munoz (Claudio), Jenna Smithwick (Alex), David Walker, Katherine George (Andrew), and Garret Walker (Jennifer). Her joy multiplied as her family grew further to include twelve great-grandchildren: Alicia Bienick (Patrick), Dylan Ewing, Drake Holland (Erika), Dawson Holland, Jewel Lloyd, Aspen Crider, William Walker, Dylan Crider, Corinne George, Pierce Walker, Camille George, John Walker, and Jackson Walker. Each of them was a testament to her enduring legacy. A devoted sister, Katherine shared a special bond with her siblings, Terry Beech and Maxie Ducote. Their lives were intertwined not only by blood but by a shared history rich with memories, laughter, and mutual support. Throughout her life, Katherine was known for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and her commitment to her family and community. Her home was a gathering place where everyone felt welcome, and her door was always open to those in need of comfort or a listening ear. Katherine's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. Her family takes comfort in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her beloved John and her parents, watching over them with the same love and compassion she showed during her time on Earth.
