In loving memory, we celebrate the remarkable life of Katherine Johnson, who passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on May 10, 1946, in Tyler, Texas, Katherine's journey was one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Katherine was the beloved daughter of the late Augustine and Lonnie Johnson. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, James Dupoint, with whom she shared 35 beautiful years of marriage filled with joy and companionship. Together, they built a family rooted in love and humor, raising their three children with endless support and care. Katherine also reunites in peace with her daughter, Annette Johnson, her sister, Lanette Forrest, and her brothers, Earl and Lewis Johnson. Katherine leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving children, Jayla and James Johnson Jr., and her five adored grandchildren: Keylon Johnson, Khiana Johnson, Karl Johnson, Naomi Green, and Dynasty Dupoint. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was their idol, a grandmother who filled their days with laughter and wisdom. Known for her quick wit and boundless sense of humor, Katherine had a unique gift for brightening even the gloomiest of days. Her nurturing and supportive nature made her a beacon of strength and compassion in the lives of those she touched. She was always eager to lend a helping hand, embodying the true spirit of kindness and generosity. Katherine found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, delighting in the cultivation of her fruits and vegetables, which she lovingly tended. Her garden was a testament to her patience and care, much like the relationships she nurtured throughout her life. As a devoted mother, she never missed an event, always present to cheer on her loved ones with pride and enthusiasm. A service to honor and celebrate Katherine's life will be held on April 4, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Karnack Baptist Church, located at 902 Old 134 Rd, Karnack, TX 75661. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember a truly remarkable woman whose spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. As we celebrate Katherine's life, let us remember her laughter, her warmth, and the deep love she shared with everyone around her. In our memories, she will forever remain a beacon of light and love, guiding us through life's journey just as she did during her time with us.
