Katherine Joan Wheeler

December 27, 1945 — April 21, 2026

It is with profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Katherine Joan Wheeler, affectionately known as Kathie, who left this world peacefully on April 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 27, 1945, in Longview, Washington, Kathie's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the joy she brought to everyone she met. Kathie was the cherished daughter of John O. Woodworth and Marguerite Helen (Hummel) Woodworth, both of whom predeceased her. She grew up in a home filled with warmth and love, which she carried into her own family life. She was a proud graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School, class of 1964, and later went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Linfield College. In Castle Rock, Washington, on November 17, 1967, Kathie married the love of her life, Clifford Wheeler. Their marriage was a shining example of commitment and devotion, and this past November, they celebrated an incredible 58 years together. Clifford survives her, alongside their beloved children: son Nolan and his wife Shawni, daughter Jolene and her husband Neil, and son Derrick and his wife Michelle. Kathie's legacy continues through her seven adored grandchildren: Parker Williamson, Brad Williamson, Delaney Wheeler, Nate Williamson, Dawson Wheeler, Ellie Wheeler, and Ethan Wheeler. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Linda Stewart and Judy, Judy's husband Jim, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly. Kathie's career was marked by her dedication and kindness, working for many years at the Castle Rock Post Office. She also shared her artistic talents and love for nature at the fern barn, where she created beautiful wreaths. Her sweet nature, spiced with a delightful hint of humor, was evident in her many talents, including sewing, baking, canning, and especially her gardening. Her prized day lilies were a testament to her nurturing spirit and love of beauty. Deeply committed to her community, Kathie was an active member of the Castle Rock Methodist Church and the Friends of the Library. Her involvement in various charitable organizations demonstrated her generous spirit and desire to make the world a better place. Kathie found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her love for horses was matched only by her passion for gardening. She spent countless hours in her greenhouse, tending to her plants with the same care and attention she gave to her family and friends. In honor of Kathie's memory, contributions can be made to the Friends of the Library, an organization close to her heart. Details regarding the location of her memorial service will be announced soon. Kathie's life was a beacon of love and kindness, and she will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her friends, and her community. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who loved her.
