January 22, 1942 — May 20, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Katherine Irene Caddell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on May 20, 2026, at the age of 84. Katherine, fondly known to many as "Kathy," was born on January 22, 1942, in the close-knit community of Rosebud-Lott, Texas, to Sam and Annie Baty. Her journey through life was marked by boundless love, kindness, and a spirit that never met a stranger. Katherine was a beacon of warmth and compassion, a woman who lived her life with an open heart and a generous spirit. Her love story with James Lynn Caddell began over six decades ago, culminating in their marriage on June 27, 1959. Together, they built a family grounded in love and mutual respect, celebrating 67 beautiful years of marriage. James survives her, cherishing the countless memories they shared. Katherine was the proud and devoted mother of three daughters, each of whom carries forward her legacy of love and kindness. Barbara Lynn Fox and her husband Bill, Becky Flanagan, and Brenda Vandiver and her husband Bert, were the lights of her life. She was the doting grandmother to five grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Her love for them was evident in the countless hours she spent creating cherished memories, sharing stories, and taking joy in their accomplishments. A lifelong animal lover, Katherine found solace and happiness in the simple joys of raising animals and spending time outdoors. Her love for nature was as deep as her love for her family, and she found peace in the beauty of the world around her. Katherine was predeceased by her two brothers and three sisters, yet her sister, Annie Lou Stone, and her husband Gene remain, carrying forward the bond that only siblings can share. Known for her willingness to help others, Katherine went above and beyond what was required, always offering a helping hand or a listening ear. She possessed an innate ability to connect with people, fueled by her love for conversation and her genuine interest in others’ stories. Her presence was a comfort to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. A service to celebrate Katherine's life will be held on May 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery, located at 206 Hwy 147, Marlin, Texas 76661. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Katherine are invited to honor and remember a woman whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and strength. Though she is no longer with us, Katherine's legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories of her laughter, her unwavering kindness, and her unyielding love. Katherine Irene Caddell's life was a blessing, and her memory will forever be a treasure to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
