Katherine Elizabeth Maybury Copeland

Katherine Elizabeth Maybury Copeland, fondly known as Kathie, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on September 24, 1950, in Arlington, Virginia, Kathie was the beloved daughter of the late Francis Maybury and Irma Maybury Matthews. She carried the love and values instilled in her by her parents throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Kathie spent her career as a dedicated office manager at the Eye Institute of North Georgia, where she was known for her sharp organizational skills and her warm, welcoming demeanor. Her colleagues and patients alike appreciated her professionalism and kindness. Family was the cornerstone of Kathie's life. She was a devoted mother to her son, Stephen Copeland and daughter Malinda Copeland ( whom preceded her in death at the age of 16) . Kathie took immense joy and pride in her role as a grandmother to McKenna Copeland and Tanner (Leah) Copeland. Her grandchildren were her greatest treasures, and she cherished every moment spent with them, often sharing stories of their adventures at the beach, one of her favorite places. Kathie ‘s is survived by her brother Mark Maybury and sisters Kaylene Matthew’s and Michelle “Mikie” (Jeff) Crampo. In her personal time, Kathie enjoyed collecting china, a hobby that reflected her appreciation for beauty and artistry. Her collections were a testament to her eye for detail and her love for timeless elegance. Kathie's life will be celebrated with a service on October 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Ingram Funeral Home, located at 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, Georgia. Family and friends are welcome to gather and remember the warmth, laughter, and love Kathie brought into their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society - Breast Cancer Fund, in honor of Kathie's courageous spirit and in the hope of supporting others facing similar battles. The Copeland family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the friends and family who cared for and brought joy to Kathie's life.
