Katharine Lee Blackmon

October 16, 1947 — October 27, 2026

Katharine Lee Blackmon, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on October 27, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in the quaint town of Henryetta, Oklahoma, on October 16, 1947, Katharine was the beloved daughter of Thomas Lee Moore and Lois Lucile Slaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lloyd Robert Morris. Katharine's early years in Henryetta shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. After graduating from Henryetta High School, she embarked on a distinguished career as a legal secretary, serving with dedication and integrity at the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), the Court of Criminal Appeals, the Oklahoma Attorney General's office under Drew Edmondson, and the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. Her expertise and diligence also graced many prestigious law firms in Oklahoma City, where she was respected for her professionalism and commitment. A lifelong advocate of education and knowledge, Katharine was an avid reader from childhood. Her love for literature was a legacy she eagerly passed on to her children and grandchildren. She particularly cherished the Harry Potter series, often reading them before anyone else in the family. Her enthusiasm for learning was matched by her passion for civic engagement. A steadfast registered Democrat, Katharine never missed an opportunity to cast her vote, believing deeply in the power of democracy and the importance of voicing one's convictions. Katharine was known for her intelligence and her ability to engage in deep, meaningful conversations. Her wide-ranging knowledge, coupled with her respectful and open-minded nature, allowed her to connect with people from all walks of life. She was never shy about sharing her views, always doing so with grace and a genuine respect for differing opinions. Katharine's legacy lives on through her loving family: her children, Kelly and Suzanne; her cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua, Kody, Bailey, Hannah, and Payton; and her precious great-grandchildren, Ayla and Revan. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit and the values she imparted will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her. In honor of Katharine's life and her commitment to helping others, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice. Her memory will forever be a blessing to those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Katharine Lee Blackmon welcomes donations to a charity, nonprofit, church, or organization of your choosing.
