December 17, 1992 — February 20, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Karl Goodwin, a cherished son, brother, partner, and friend, who left this world far too soon on February 20, 2026, at the age of 33. Born on December 17, 1992, in Grimsby, Karl was a beacon of light and love, whose vibrant spirit touched all who knew him. Karl was a man of many talents and pursuits. A proud alumnus of the University of Kent, he achieved remarkable academic success, earning a PhD, MA, and BSc. His commitment to education and his thirst for knowledge were truly inspiring. His intellect was matched only by his dedication to service, as he devoted 20 years to military service, bravely fighting the good fight with unwavering courage and resilience. In his personal life, Karl was known for his wit and kindness. His sense of humor could light up a room, and his kindness knew no bounds. He was resilient in the face of adversity, always true to himself and those he loved. These qualities endeared him to family and friends alike, creating bonds that will endure beyond his years. Karl found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a passionate fan of Star Trek, often engaging in lively discussions about the latest episodes and the philosophies that underpinned them. He loved to mosh to his favorite music, losing himself in the energy and freedom of the moment. His love for long strolls in the park allowed him to appreciate nature's beauty and provided peaceful reflection amidst the hustle and bustle of life. He is survived by his loving parents, Janet and Andrew, who nurtured and supported him throughout his life; his sister, Nicki, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories; his devoted partner, Jo, who was his rock and confidante; and two dear nephews who adored their uncle and will carry forward his legacy. He is predeceased by his beloved first pet, Batman, who held a special place in his heart. Karl's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life, though tragically cut short, was a testament to the power of love, courage, and kindness. A private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing those closest to Karl to say their farewells in a setting of peace and intimacy. In remembrance of Karl, we invite you to honor his memory by embracing the qualities he exemplified so beautifully—wit, kindness, resilience, and staying true to oneself. Let us celebrate his life by carrying forward his spirit in our own lives. Rest in peace, dear Karl. You will be forever missed and eternally loved.
