With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Karen Olin, who left us peacefully on February 22, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on February 17, 1955, in Newport, Washington, Karen was a beacon of love and strength to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was the cherished daughter of Loraine and Robert Cole, and stepdaughter to John (Johnny) Gretener, all of whom preceded her in death, along with her beloved brothers, Danny, David, and Robert Cole, and her dear husband, Danny Olin. Karen's life was a testament to kindness and generosity, qualities that she embodied and which touched countless lives. Raised in Newport, she graduated from Newport High School, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to family and community. In her early years, Karen worked for the Washington State health and welfare department, where her caring nature and commitment to service were evident. She later embraced the role of a stay-at-home mother, raising her children with unwavering love. Karen was a loving mother to Erin (Steven) Slater of Oldtown, Idaho, and Danny Doolittle of Spokane, Washington. Blessed with 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She found immense joy spending time with her grandchildren each of whom brought a twinkle to her eye and happiness to her heart. After raising her children, Karen returned to the workforce, where she found joy and fulfillment in her role at Ben Franklin. Her colleagues and customers alike will remember her warmth and smile. Karen's love for the outdoors was a defining aspect of her life. She found serenity in nature, whether fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying the beauty of her surroundings. Together with her husband, she helped build a tiny home, a testament to their shared dreams and the love they nurtured. Traveling was another of Karen's passions, and she cherished adventures, be it hunting pheasants in North Dakota or marveling at the majesty of Glacier National Park. Her family and friends will fondly remember Karen for her boundless generosity, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering kindness. She leaves behind her children, her sister Janice Fleishman of Covington, Wa, and her brother John (Trip) Gretener, Granddaughter Kara (Tristan) Wandler of Rathdrum, Id, Grandkids Thomas, Jayden, Lauren and Danny of Montana, nieces and nephews and many cousins who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Karen's life will be celebrated on March 28, 2026, at 2:45 PM at St. Anthony's, where friends and family will gather to honor her legacy and the indelible mark she left on the world. In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the love she shared and the countless memories that will keep her spirit alive for generations to come. Rest in peace, dearest mother, in the arms of those who have gone before, and in the hearts of those who remain.
