In Loving Memory

Karen McKee
June 2, 1951 — September 12, 2026
Karen Lee McKee, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully left this world on September 12, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on June 2, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Karen touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, intelligence, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Karen was a proud alumnus of Little Flower Catholic High School and Temple University, achievements that paved the way for her successful career at the IRS. Over more than three decades, she dedicated herself to her work with diligence and integrity, rising through the ranks to become a respected corporate tax auditor. Her colleagues remember her not only as a skilled professional but also as a mentor who generously shared her knowledge and always encouraged her coworkers.
A devoted member of the Catholic church, Karen's faith was a guiding force in her life. She found joy in the simple pleasures, whether traveling to new destinations, playing competitive trivia, enjoying a night out at the casino, taking walks on the beach or savoring a meal at a new restaurant with friends. She had a fondness for all dogs but especially her miniature greyhounds. Her happiest moments, however, were spent with her cherished family, particularly at Disney World, where she delighted in the magic and wonder through the eyes of her grandchildren.
Karen's family was her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her loving children: Kelly Marie Spillman (Chris Korbel), Kenneth Leo Spillman (Amelia Spillman) and Kimberly Rose Mason (Duane Shippy). Her legacy lives on in her six grandchildren—Eli Mason, Eleanor Mason, Ean Mason, Emmylou Spillman, River Spillman, and Bennett Spillman—each of whom carries forward her intellect, playful wit, and warm humor.
Karen's life was enriched by the companionship of Billy Bezubiak, her longtime partner, who brought joy and support throughout the years. She was predeceased by her mother, Delores Matthews and brother, Ira (Butchie) Matthews, whom she dearly loved.
Those who knew Karen will remember her as a devoted and proud Nana, a woman of grace and laughter, who brought light and joy to all around her. Her departure leaves a profound emptiness, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.
In honor of Karen's memory, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Humane Society. May her soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously gave to others.
A memorial service will be held honoring the life of Karen Lee McKee with formal details to follow in the coming weeks. Should you wish to attend, please contact Kelly, Kenny or Kim.
