Karen Marker

December 17, 1948 — September 10, 2026

It is with profound sadness and tender remembrance that we announce the passing of Karen Marker, who left this world on September 10, 2026. Born on December 17, 1948, in the close-knit community of Spaulding, Nebraska, Karen was a cherished daughter to Emmett and Darlene (Hower) Marker. Her life was a testament to joy, laughter, and the deep bonds of family. Karen was blessed with a natural ability to bring laughter to those around her, known affectionately as the family jokester. Her humor was infectious, and her playful spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her ability to brighten any room with a clever quip or a warm smile was a gift she shared generously throughout her life. Karen is survived by her three devoted children, Shonn (Sandi) Marker of Kearney, Nebraska, Shane (Ericka) Marker of Mt. Vernon, Texas, and Stormie Shane of Wichita, Kansas, who were her pride and joy. She delighted in the lives of her six grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of love and laughter. Though she did not have great-grandchildren, her spirit will undoubtedly watch over future generations. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, JoAnn Ellmers, Pat Fletcher, Dee Marker, and Leora (Tom) Johns; her sisters-in-law, Patty Harvey and DeAnna Marker; her brothers, Rick (Linda) Marker, Ernie (Marcy) Marker, and Dean Marker; and her brothers-in-law, Don Fishler and Bill Cook. In addition, Karen leaves behind a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will forever cherish their memories of her. Karen was predeceased by her parents, Emmett and Darlene, her sisters, Linda Cook, Kathy Marker, Ronda Fishler, and Betty Marker, her brothers, Robert Marker, Paul Marker, and Dale Marker, and in-laws, Edward Fletcher and Sally Marker. She is now reunited with them, celebrating in the peace of heaven. In her final days, Karen was surrounded by her loved ones at Mt. Vernon House, a place of comfort and care, where she transitioned peacefully and pain-free. A service commemorating Karen's vibrant life will be held on September 18, 2026, at the Bartlett Fairgrounds. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out with love and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karen's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring her generous spirit. As we gather to celebrate Karen's life, we remember her as a beacon of joy, forever etched in our hearts. Her laughter will echo in our memories, her love will guide us, and her spirit will remain ever present.
