In loving memory of Karen Leak, who departed this world on June 29, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her home in Eerie, Pennsylvania. Born on November 17, 1939, Karen was a beacon of light, known for her quick wit, giving spirit, and an endless reservoir of kindness. Her life was a testament to the profound impact one can have through simple acts of love and generosity.
Karen was the cherished daughter of Edward and Audrey Burns, who predeceased her along with her siblings Gary, Susan, Keith, and Gordon, her beloved husband Robert, and her daughters Tina and Lori. Her legacy continues through her surviving children, Sharon and her husband Dan, and Daryl and his wife Erika. Karen was also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren—Ryan, Jordan, Morgan, and Makenna—and two great-grandchildren, all of whom were the apples of her eye. Her siblings, Marda, Dennis, Eileen, Dale, Vicki, and Brian, will remember her fondly, as will the countless people she touched with her warmth and kindness.
Karen's journey of life began in Eerie, Pennsylvania, and she graduated from McDowell High School in 1957. After marrying the love of her life, Robert Murray Leak, on June 7, 1959, in Tampa, Florida, they built a loving family and a life together for over 36 years. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to hard work, love, and dedication, raising four wonderful children and creating a legacy that will endure.
In her professional life, Karen was a dedicated employee in the banking sector, most recently with Capital One, where she worked diligently until her retirement. Her colleagues and friends remember her not only for her professionalism but for her genuine warmth and humor that made every day brighter.
Karen had a passion for life that was reflected in her hobbies. She loved to bake and cook, always eager to share her culinary delights with those she loved. Her home was often filled with the comforting aroma of her creations, each dish a testament to her love and care. In her leisure time, she enjoyed various crafts, most recently finding joy in diamond paintings, which she shared with many, leaving behind beautiful tokens of her creativity and patience.
Her character was defined by her quick wit and the ability to make others laugh, no matter the circumstances. Her warm aura and genuine spirit made everyone feel welcome, and her kindness and generosity were unmatched. Those who knew Karen were blessed by her presence and will forever cherish the memories of her loving nature.
A service to celebrate Karen's life will be held on July 9, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, located at 4202 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Moffitt Cancer Center at both the USF Magnolia and International Plaza Campuses. Their compassionate care and steadfast support were a source of comfort during Karen's courageous battle with uterine cancer.
Karen's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, kindness, and laughter. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
