In Loving Memory

Karen Guy Palinkas
June 19, 1956 — September 29, 2026
Karen Guy Palinkas, a cherished daughter, sister, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026. Born on June 19, 1956, in Framingham, Massachusetts, Karen was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Mary Louise (Lou) Guy. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Edward Palinkas, and her daughter Nicole Palinkas.
Karen's life was a testament to love, laughter, and the endless joy she brought to those who knew her. A graduate of Ashland High School in 1974, Karen carried the spirit of her hometown close to her heart, even as she embarked on adventures far and wide.
Karen's love for the ocean was profound, and she often dreamed of living on a houseboat, surrounded by the gentle sway of the waves. Her passion for travel took her to many beautiful places, creating memories with her twin sister, Kathleen Guy Gilbert, and her dearest friends. Karen also enjoyed the thrill of visiting casinos, but above all, she treasured the moments spent with her family and treasured friends, creating unforgettable memories through shared activities and journeys.
Karen's generosity and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her ability to leave every place—and every person—better than she found them was a testament to her character and heart. Her legacy lives on through her surviving family members: her loving daughter Jennifer Merchant and son-in-law William Merchant, her twin sister Kathleen, and her adored grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Gunner, Sloane, and her great-grandson, Brandtly. She is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held on November 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Matarese Funeral Home, located in Ashland, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests making a donation to a charity of your choice in Karen's memory, honoring her lifelong commitment to helping others.
In the words of her family, "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal." Karen touched our lives and certainly left many cherished memories with each and every one of us. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will forever remain in our hearts.
