Karen Dittenhafer

October 14, 1956 — July 1, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Dittenhafer, a beloved soul who left us on July 1, 2026, at the age of 69. Karen departed this world peacefully at her home in the loving embrace of her family, a testament to the deep connections she cherished throughout her life. Born on October 14, 1956, in Manchester, Pennsylvania, Karen was the cherished daughter of Roger and Linda Fillmore, who predeceased her. Her early years in Manchester were filled with warmth and love, qualities she carried throughout her life. Karen graduated from Northeastern High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and began her journey into adulthood. Karen was a woman of many talents and interests. Known for her sassy attitude, she had a heart as big as her personality. She had an innate ability to make anyone feel welcome and was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was to a close friend or a stranger. Her vibrant spirit and kind heart left a mark on everyone she met. Before retiring, Karen worked at the Wago Club, where she was not just a colleague but a friend to many. Her dedication to her work was admired by all, and her infectious laughter and cheerful demeanor brightened the days of those around her. Outside of work, Karen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved cooking and could often be found tending to her garden, nurturing both plants and her soul. Whether she was planting flowers or simply soaking up the sun, being outside gave her immense peace and happiness. Karen was a devoted wife to her late husband, Robert Dittenhafer, and a loving mother to her daughter, Elizabeth Miller, and her husband, Grant Bruckart. Her greatest joy, however, was her granddaughter, Emberlyn Bruckart, who brought an endless supply of smiles and laughter into her life. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Roger and Jeanette Fillmore of Jesup, Georgia, Dianne Phillips of York, Pennsylvania, and Mary Ann Sweitzer of York, Pennsylvania. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever held close in their hearts. In honor of Karen's memory, donations can be made to Homeland at Home Hospice, whose compassionate care during her final days was invaluable. Karen's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and the reminder to always embrace life with a smile. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
