Born on January 31, 1974, in Charleston, WV, Karen departed this world on August 24, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of her family and friends, after bravely battling an aggressive form of breast cancer for over four years. Karen was the beloved daughter of Linda L. Cunningham and the late Keith Cunningham. Her father, along with several cherished family members and friends who predeceased her, now welcome her into their eternal embrace. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Corey Holden, her treasured children, Tobias Holden and Chloe Gonzales, and her brother, Kevin Cunningham. Karen's heart extended beyond family, encompassing close friends from West Virginia, South Carolina, South Florida, and across the globe, all of whom will deeply feel her absence. A proud alumna of Marshall University and the University of Central Florida, Karen's educational journey was marked by her pursuit of knowledge and her passion for Women's and Gender Studies. Her career, predominantly spent in the banking and mortgage industry, was dedicated to helping countless families achieve their dreams of homeownership. In Florida, she also served as a notary, always with a commitment to community and service. Karen's life was a vibrant tapestry of interests and passions. A member of the 7 Continents Club, she was an adventurous traveler, finding joy in exploring the world and savoring new experiences. Her enthusiasm for cycling and exercise mirrored her zest for life, and she cherished socializing with friends in various settings, sharing laughter and creating memories. Deeply involved in charitable organizations, Karen was a steadfast advocate for women's causes, focusing on issues such as domestic violence, food insecurity, housing assistance, mental health, and cancer care. Her dedication to these causes was a reflection of her compassionate spirit and her unwavering belief in the power of community support. Karen's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering conviction. She approached every aspect of her life with vigor and enthusiasm, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the providers and staff at Florida Cancer Specialists, Genesis Radiology, Gardens Medical Center, Jupiter Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, and JFK North Hospital for their compassionate care throughout Karen's battle with TNBC. In honor of Karen's life, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to ADVA Palm Beach, reflecting her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
