With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Karen Bare, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully at home on May 21, 2026, at the age of 52. Born on March 10, 1974, in Olney, Illinois, Karen was a beacon of joy and warmth, known for her infectious laughter and boundless energy. Karen was the cherished daughter of the late Roy and Sue Carter and the loving sister to the late Darrel Carter. Despite the loss of her parents and brother, she carried their memories with grace and strength, embodying the love and compassion they instilled in her. In 2013, Karen married the love of her life, Evan Bare, on a beautiful day in June. Their union was a testament to unwavering devotion and companionship, marked by shared passions and mutual respect. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure, often seen cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals or enjoying the thrill of a live concert. Karen was a dedicated health assistant at Wadi, where her caring nature and commitment to others shone brightly. Her colleagues and patients alike were touched by her kindness and the genuine interest she took in their lives. She was more than a coworker; she was a confidante and a friend. Music was Karen's lifelong companion, particularly the vibrant sounds of '80s hair bands. She could often be found reliving the excitement of these concerts, sharing stories with anyone willing to listen. Her love for movies and occasional trips to the casino added a touch of adventure to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with her family at Cardinals games. Karen's storytelling prowess was legendary, each tale infused with humor and heart. Her anecdotes, whether about a concert escapade or childhood adventures with friends April and Denise, left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to hear them. Her legacy lives on through her devoted husband, Evan; her loving children, Kevin Pickering, Jack Mecum, Rusty Mecum, and Sara Mecum; and her treasured grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karen's life on May 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Meredith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois. As we gather to honor her memory, we find solace in knowing that her spirit will forever light our lives, much like the stories she loved to tell. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Karen's honor, ensuring her legacy of kindness and compassion continues to touch lives. Karen Bare's life was a beautiful melody, woven with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. As we bid her farewell, we hold dear the stories she shared and the love she spread, forever grateful for the time we had with her.
