Karen Scott Rukenbrod, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 20, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on March 11, 1952, in Pontiac, Michigan, Karen was the cherished daughter of Neal and Delores Scott. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Carol Finkel, Cheryl Lawson, Cindy Ash, and her infant son, Matthew Scott Rukenbrod. Karen's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of living fully. She graduated from Troy High School and dedicated nearly 30 years to her career as a pediatric medical professional in Bingham Farms, where she cared for countless children with compassion and dedication. Her colleagues and patients alike remember her for her warm smile and quick wit, always making those around her feel welcome and valued. Beyond her professional life, Karen was an avid reader who found joy in the pages of countless books. She had a great love for music and often lit up the room with her vibrant karaoke performances. Her flower gardens were a testament to her nurturing spirit, where she spent many peaceful hours tending to her blooms. Karen is survived by her loving children: her son Kirk and his wife Karen Rukenbrod, daughters Danielle Gauthier and Kirsten and her husband Rich Gilbert. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Rowan, Olivia, Torrance, Sydney, Mason, Brody, and Jude, and a cherished great-grandmother to Poppy, Bodhi, Jamison, River, and Millie. She also leaves behind her dear brother Craig and his wife Sandy Scott.
