Born on April 4, 1990, in Bridgeton, NJ, Kanya was a beacon of kindness and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Kanya was the cherished daughter of Jason and Latisha Charles and a devoted sister to Za’Meir, Cashmere, and Jayel Charles. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she carried a deep love and commitment to them throughout her days. Though Kanya did not have children of her own, she was a nurturing presence to her siblings, always offering a listening ear, a warm hug, or a word of encouragement when it was needed most. A proud alumna of Bridgeton High School, Class of 2008, Kanya found her calling in the healthcare field, dedicating over a decade of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her career was more than just a job; it was a testament to her generous spirit and her unwavering desire to help those in need. Kanya's patients and colleagues alike were touched by her gentle care and genuine empathy, qualities that made her a remarkable caregiver. Those who knew Kanya will remember her for her infectious laughter, her boundless energy, and her ability to light up any room she entered. She was a lover of nature, often spending her free time exploring the parks and trails around her hometown, finding peace and solace in the beauty of the world around her. A celebration of Kanya's life will be held on September 27, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, located at 312 N Pearl St, Bridgeton, NJ 08302. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Kanya are invited to join in honoring her memory and sharing the stories and memories that made her life so special. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kanya's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and her dedication to helping others.
