It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Kammi Lynn Richwood, a cherished daughter, mother, sister, and friend. Kammi was born on November 10, 1987, in the serene environs of Stony Brook, New York, and departed from this world on February 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and resilience.
Kammi was a beacon of warmth and kindness, characterized by her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. She was the beloved daughter of Wanda Crews and Maurice Whitty, who nurtured her with love and wisdom throughout her life. Kammi is survived by her treasured children, Akianna Crews-Smith and Akavion and Anariah Richwood, Robert Richwood Jr. who were the light of her life and the source of her greatest joy. Her spirit also remains in the hearts of her siblings, Shateek Carter, Robert Carter, Lytisha Carter, Tasheem Carter, Justice Carter, Justine Carter, Jerimiah Carter and Jahnasia Woodridge. Her grandparents Melinda and Harold Andrews, uncle Corie Crews(Lisa), Aunt Tahsha Crews(Patrick), Aunt Melinda Artis(Scott),Uncle Masio Tucker and her extended family, who will forever cherish her memory.
A proud graduate of Comswogue High School in Port Jefferson, NY, Kammi pursued her passion for helping others through her education. She obtained a Paralegal degree from Briarcliff College in Patchogue, NY, and furthered her commitment to healthcare by earning an Associate degree from SUNY Farmingdale College. Her dedication led her to receive her CNA certification from Hunter Business School and culminated with her LPN certification from Johnstown Technical Center.
Kammi's career was a testament to her compassion and dedication. She worked tirelessly as a Certified Nursing Assistant in various nursing homes, where her gentle care and comforting presence were a solace to many. Her journey as a traveling LPN took her to multiple hospitals and nursing homes, where she touched countless lives with her warm smile and nurturing spirit.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kammi was a devoted mother who delighted in spending quality time with her children. She was an enthusiast of the latest beauty trends, particularly in hairstyling, and was known for her ever-changing, colorful hairstyles that mirrored her lively personality. Kammi's protective nature and witty sense of humor endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to know her, making everyone laugh and feel at ease in her presence.
A service to celebrate Kammi's life will be held on March 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all who have shown support through donations, cards, visits, calls, and texts during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength.
