In Loving Memory

Kalasita Taekakau Anitema
January 19, 1939 — April 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Kalasita Taekakau Anitema, known fondly as Tae, who departed this world on April 21, 2026, at the age of 87. Her peaceful transition occurred in the comforting embrace of her home in Hilo, Hawaii, surrounded by her cherished family members.
Born on January 19, 1939, to Sione and Selaima Pousima in the serene surroundings of Hilo, Tae spent her life cultivating a legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith. Her devotion to her family and her Lord and Savior was the guiding light of her existence. Tae's journey was marked by her steadfast commitment to hard work and her generosity in serving others—a testament to the values instilled in her from a young age.
Tae was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Salesi Akaola Anitema, and her eldest daughter, Mele Rua Anitema Peni. Though their absence leaves a void, the memories of their shared lives bring comfort and strength to those who remain.
She is survived by five of her seven children, their loving spouses, and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each of them carries forward her legacy, enriched by the love, wisdom, and traditions she imparted. Her family was her world, and she was the unwavering center of theirs.
A private funeral service will be held on April 24, 2026, in accordance with Tae's wishes. The family invites close friends and family to join them in a private celebration of Tae's remarkable life following the morning service. This gathering will be held in the gym, where refreshments will be provided as they share stories and memories of a life dedicated to faith and family.
Tae's life was a beautiful testament to the strength of character and the power of love. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her. As we bid farewell to a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared and the lessons she taught us.
Rest in eternal peace, Tae. Your love and legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those you touched.
