It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kaitlyn Niki Gallo, cherished daughter, loving sister, devoted friend, and aspiring nurse. Kaitlyn left this world on January 22, 2026, at the age of 22, after a courageous and lengthy battle with mental illness. Born on October 23, 2003, in Highland Park, Kaitlyn's remarkable spirit and infectious joy touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Kaitlyn was a bright and dedicated student, graduating with honors from Libertyville High School. Her passion for science and her unwavering desire to care for others led her to pursue a career in nursing at Carthage College, where she was eagerly anticipating her graduation in May 2026. Throughout her studies, Kaitlyn's commitment to helping others was evident in her work as a certified nurse's assistant at a retirement home. Known for her warm, welcoming smile and ability to light up any room with her laughter, Kaitlyn was a hard worker who consistently went above and beyond for her patients, forming genuine connections that transcended the bounds of caregiving. In addition to her work in healthcare, Kaitlyn also shared her nurturing spirit with infants at a Montessori school. Her kindness, patience, and genuine care were hallmarks of her personality, leaving a lasting impact on those she cared for. Kaitlyn's love for soccer was a lifelong passion, playing as a goalie for an impressive 17 years. She was an invaluable teammate in travel soccer, as well as middle and high school teams, where her camaraderie and dedication shone brightly. Kaitlyn's greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family and friends. Her compassionate nature and willingness to help others were constants in her life. She delighted in sharing stories, recounting her fascinating dreams, and making those around her laugh with her quick wit and humor. Her kindness, warmth, and bright spirit were gifts to everyone she met. Kaitlyn is survived by her loving parents, Sandy Gallo and Dennis Gallo, who were her greatest supporters and cherished her deeply. She will be forever missed by her sister, Alyssa Gallo, with whom she shared countless memories and an unbreakable bond. Kaitlyn's cousins, Kristina, Alex, Nico, and Jonathan, and her close friends, Ally Marshall, Adriana Respondi Trocchio, Marie Weis, Maggie Toland, Grace Prainito, and Carter Rus, will carry forward her memory in their hearts. A service to honor and celebrate Kaitlyn's life will be held on May 25, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville, IL 60048. As we gather to remember Kaitlyn, let us hold close the beautiful memories and the love she shared with us. Though Kaitlyn's journey was cut short, her legacy of kindness, love, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her. In her memory, let us strive to live with the same warmth and generosity that she embodied every day. May Kaitlyn Niki Gallo rest in peace, embraced by the love of those she touched so profoundly.
