Justin Watkins

Justin Watkins, a beloved soul born on February 26, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at the Otterbein Rehabilitation Center. His life, filled with warmth, laughter, and kindness, touched everyone around him, leaving a lasting legacy of love and friendship. Justin was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Dean C. and Virginia B. Watkins, and his brother, Ronald Watkins. He is survived by his brothers, Bill Vaught and Randall Watkins, his cherished daughter, LaTina Young and her husband Ricky Curry, and his adored grandchildren, Joshua Young, Joshae Young, John Curry, Shon Curry, Erick Curry, and Teena-Marie Curry, great grandchildren Nylani Young, Cashimere Young, and Jormani Young his very special cousins Marie Waters, and Terri Watkins. Also holding a special place in his heart was his dear life long friend, Judy Young. Justin graduated from West High School, where he began to cultivate his lifelong passion for basketball. He also loved football and his love for the Dallas Cowboys was legendary, a passion he enthusiastically shared with his grandsons, creating cherished memories on countless game days. Known for his remarkable warmth and kindness, Justin had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. To him, every person he met was a friend, and he relished the opportunity to listen to their stories, making them feel heard and appreciated. His love for jokes, and zest for life made him the life of every gathering, bringing joy to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Justin's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Otterbein Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care they provided during his stay and to Luminary Hospice for ensuring his comfort and dignity in his final days. A celebration of Justin's life will take place on September 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the JH Ross Family Center, located at 907 Lexington Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43201. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the memory of a man who enriched so many lives with his boundless kindness and unwavering friendship.
