In Loving Memory
Julia Mae "Tennie" Jackson
August 10, 1934 — May 5, 2026
It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Julia Mae "Tennie" Jackson, who departed this life on May 5, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on August 10, 1934, in Columbus, she was the cherished daughter of Fannie Mae Wiley and Willie Louis Wiley. Julia was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and unmatched resilience, whose legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Julia was united in holy matrimony to the late Luke Jackson Jr., with whom she shared a life of mutual devotion and together built a family rooted in love and perseverance. Though time took her beloved husband and children, Kelson Brooks, Larry William, Ronnie Jackson, and Regina Harris, from this earthly realm, Julia carried their memories in her heart, finding solace in the hope of a heavenly reunion.
Her life was a testament to her dedication as a nurturer—not only as a homemaker but as the heart and soul of her family. Julia's home was a sanctuary of warmth, where 33 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren found refuge in her protective embrace. Her children, Lucille Thorpe, Barbara Johnson, Glenda Jones, Lisa Parkin, Eric Jackson, Daryl Gray, Julia Jackson, and James Jackson, continue to cherish the rich legacy of love and wisdom she imparted. Her extended family, including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and dear friends, carry forward her spirit of generosity and compassion.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Julia found her spiritual home at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith was not only a cornerstone of her life but a guiding light for all who knew her. She relished every moment spent in worship and fellowship with her church family, where her presence was a source of encouragement and joy.
Standing at 4'11", Julia's height belied the magnitude of her spirit. She was feisty, sassy, and always ready with her signature sayings, "Try it if you wanna" and "Try Me." Her boldness was matched only by her tenderness, as she selflessly nurtured those around her with an open heart and open arms. She was a stalwart pillar through life's storms, offering wisdom and security with a love that knew no bounds.
Julia's passions extended beyond her familial and spiritual duties. Her love for gardening, cooking, grilling, traveling, and music filled her days with joy and laughter. Her greatest happiness, however, was derived from family gatherings, where good food and shared laughter created memories to last a lifetime.
As we lay her to rest, we find solace in the words of Scripture, held dear by our family: “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” – Romans 12:19.
Julia's life will be celebrated on May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 166 Jerusalem Church Rd, Warner Robins, GA 31088. As we gather to honor her memory, we reflect on the indelible imprint she has left on our lives—a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith that will continue to guide us.
Though her physical presence is no longer with us, Julia Mae Jackson's spirit endures in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Her life was a testament to the power of love, and her memory will be cherished for generations to come.
