Julia Josephine Odefey, a loving wife, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on February 25, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, Julia was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Margaret Hakim. Julia's life was a testament to love, resilience, and kindness. She lived a life filled with grace and dignity, qualities that she generously shared with everyone she met. Julia was predeceased by her devoted husband, William Odefey, with whom she shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised two daughters, Sheri Kern and Deborah Corral, creating a family grounded in love and unity. Her parents, Joseph and Margaret Hakim, and her siblings, Raymond Hakim, Gloria Fontana, and Joseph Hakim, also preceded her in death. Julia's legacy is lovingly carried forward by her daughters, Sheri Kern and her husband Michael, and Deborah Corral and her husband Alexus. Her six grandchildren, David Kern with his wife Kaitlyn and their daughter Lindsey, Michael Kern with his wife Ashley and their son Lennox, Kayla Brumbelow with her husband Hunter and their son Asher, Seth Edemann with his wife Meiah and their son Cohen, Skye Corral, and Adrianna Corral, were her pride and joy. Her four great-grandchildren were an additional blessing in her life, filling her days with laughter and love. Julia's journey began in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, where she earned a cosmetology license and worked as a dedicated hairdresser. Later in life, she transitioned to the finance sector, demonstrating her adaptability and determination. She was an active member of the Gamma Tau Sorority, where she served in various roles, and a committed parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Lebanon, where her faith guided her actions and decisions. Her interests were as diverse as her talents. Julia loved playing tennis and participated in a bowling league, where she formed lasting friendships. Her adventurous spirit took her around the world, embarking on numerous travels and cruises that enriched her life and broadened her horizons. Julia will be remembered for her unwavering kindness and compassion. Her caring nature touched the lives of many, offering support and love to everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. A service to honor and celebrate Julia's life will be held on September 25, 2026, at 5:00PM at St. Faustina Catholic Church at 28102 FM 1093, Fulshear, TX 77441. And on September 26, 2026 we will lay her to rest in Galveston at 1:00PM. Julia Josephine Odefey's life was a beacon of light and love. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will endure in the hearts of those who loved her.
