May 5, 1939 — June 25, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the peaceful passing of Julia Ann Ledington, beloved matriarch and cherished friend, who quietly took her leave from this world on June 25, 2026, slipping away in her sleep. Born on May 5, 1939, in Indianapolis, Julia, fondly known to many as Judy, embodied the essence of grace, love, and kindness throughout her remarkable 87 years. Judy was the beloved daughter of Ben and Nola Wood and shared her early life with her siblings Mary, Edith, Jewel, Charlie, Darrell, Dorothy, Dean, and George, now all reunited in peaceful eternity. In the backdrop of her loving family home, she met and married the love of her life, James (Jim) Ledington, on January 24, 1956. Together, they crafted a life filled with joy, devotion, and unwavering faith, celebrating 60 beautiful years of marriage before Jim's passing. Their union was a testament to unconditional love and shared faith, a legacy they imparted to their five cherished children: Pam (Mike), Don (Rosa), Peggy (Garry), Jason (Angie), and the late Ray Ledington. Judy's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of family, faith, and community. She was the proud grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life and the joyful recipients of her love and laughter. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and happiness, where she delighted in babysitting, indulging in her love of chocolates and snacks. Her laughter, distinctive and infectious, resonated through the halls of her home and the hearts of her loved ones. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends. A devoted servant of her faith, Judy was deeply involved with Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, where she found solace in the House of the Lord, immersing herself in scripture and prayer. Her unwavering trust in God and her anticipation of meeting Jesus in Heaven were cornerstones of her enduring spirit. Judy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished her morning black coffee, the serenity of nature, and the vibrant beauty of her garden. Her gentle spirit was a beacon of kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand, even when resources were scarce. She embraced the exuberance of her grandchildren, joining in their playful antics with a heart full of love and a spirit of fun. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Danville Regional Rehabilitation, who lovingly cared for Judy during the final eight years of her life. Your kindness and dedication meant the world to her and will forever be cherished by her family. Judy's legacy is one of love, laughter, and faith—a life well-lived and a spirit that will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the journey of a life filled with love and the promise of eternal peace. She leaves behind a family united in love and a community enriched by her presence. May her soul rest in the eternal embrace of the Lord, reunited with those who have gone before her, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
