It is with a heavy heart and profound respect that we announce the peaceful passing of Judy Stephenson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Judy departed this world on February 25, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family in her cherished home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Judy’s journey began on March 25, 1940, in the sun-kissed city of Phoenix, Arizona, where she was born to her loving parents, Ernie Barksdale and Fay Hoopes. From a young age, Judy embodied a spirit of kindness and compassion, traits that she carried throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone she encountered.
In 1994, Judy found her soulmate in Tommy Stephenson, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage filled with love and laughter until his passing. Together, they created a blended family that became the cornerstone of Judy's world. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Kelly Knight Hoskins (Kim Hoskins), Karen Knight, and Kori Culp, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Her love and guidance extended to her stepchildren as well, including Debbie Thrasher and daughter-in-law, Delauna Hall Stephenson, whom she embraced as her own.
Judy's legacy will continue to flourish through her many grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She found immense happiness in their achievements and cherished every moment spent together, whether it was sharing stories, laughter, or simply offering her unwavering support.
Preceded in death by her dear husband, Tommy Stephenson, and step son-in-law, Bobby Stephenson, Judy remained resilient and strong, a true testament to her enduring spirit and love for her family.
Judy's warmth extended beyond her family, as she was a cherished friend to many, always offering a listening ear and a comforting presence. Her home was often filled with the laughter of friends and family, a testament to her generous and welcoming nature.
As we bid farewell to Judy, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, kindness, and countless cherished memories. Her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.
A memorial service to honor Judy's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Judy's memory, as a final tribute to her generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Judy Stephenson's life was a testament to the power of love and family, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, reunited with her beloved Tommy, and forever cherished in our hearts.
