In loving memory, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Judy M. Kendricks, a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Judy was born on August 7, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away peacefully at home in Lithonia, GA on May 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving daughter and grandson Joshua. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her enduring spirit and legacy continue to illuminate our lives.
Judy was the cherished daughter of P.D. and Lillie Pearl Davis, who instilled in her the values of love, resilience, and compassion. She grew up in a family that treasured strong bonds, alongside her sisters Terry Morgan of Memphis, TN, Betty J(Cifton) Stevenson of Indianapolis, IN, Kirk Davis Honolulu, HI, and Pearline Davis of Chicago, IL. Although her parents and sister Emma J.Davis have predeceased her, their love and guiding principles lived on through Judy.
A proud graduate of Wendell Phillips High School in 1973, Judy embarked on a career as a nurse's aide, where she dedicated herself to the well-being and care of others until 2015. Her career was a testament to her nurturing spirit and unwavering commitment to service, traits that were evident in all aspects of her life.
Judy's heart was full of love and devotion for her family. She was a loving mother to her daughter Tiffany Davis of Lithonia, GA, and a proud grandmother to her four grandchildren: David Ruffin, Niquolas Ruffin, LaRoy Ruffin, Joshua Davis, and great-grandson LaRoy Ruffin III. They were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment spent in their company, often expressing her love through her delicious cooking and impressive sewing skills.
In her earlier years, Judy married Fletcher Kendricks in 1973. Later, she found her life partner, Alfred Davis, and together they brought Tiffany into the world, a testament to Judy's belief in love and family as the cornerstones of a fulfilled life.
Judy was a woman of many passions. Her love for high fashion was evident in her impeccable style and grace, a true reflection of her vibrant personality. An active member of the Friendly Temple Church of God and Christ for over 30 years, Judy found solace and strength in her faith, forming lifelong friendships that became an extended family to her.
Her warm smile could light up any room, a beacon of positivity and kindness that endeared her to everyone she met. Judy's legacy is one of love, resilience, and beauty, qualities that continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her immediate family, Judy leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who became family over the years. Her life was a tapestry of rich relationships and cherished memories, each thread woven with love and laughter.
A private funeral ceremony will be held in her honor, allowing her family to reflect on the treasured moments shared with her and the remarkable impact she had on their lives.
While we grieve her passing, we celebrate the remarkable life Judy lived—a life filled with love, compassion, and grace. Her memory will forever remain a guiding light, reminding us to live with kindness and an open heart. Rest in peace, dear Judy, knowing you were deeply loved and that your legacy will endure through the lives you've touched.
