Judith Potter

Judith Potter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Judith was born on November 20, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, to Evelyn and Robert Alm. A nurturing soul with a passion for teaching and crafting, she touched the lives of many throughout her fulfilling life. Judith's formative years were spent in Flint, where she graduated from Flint Central High School in 1965. She pursued her passion for education, earning a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan-Flint in 1968, and later, in 2002, a Master's degree in Early Education, reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning and teaching. Judith dedicated over 30 years of her career to molding young minds at Garfield Elementary in Flint. Her love for her students and her profession was evident in her tireless dedication to their growth and success. Beyond the classroom, Judith's creative spirit flourished through her hobbies of quilting, crafts, and baking. She was a cherished member of the Genesee Star Quilters and shared her love of local heritage as a docent at the Grand Blanc Heritage Museum. In October 1975, Judith married the love of her life, Neil Potter. Together, they built a warm and loving family, welcoming two children, Stephanie (and her husband Benjamin Hensel) and Jeffrey. Judith was a devoted grandmother to Thomas and James, who were the lights of her life. Her family was her pride and joy, and her loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Judith is survived by her devoted husband Neil, her children Stephanie and Jeffrey, her grandchildren Thomas and James, and her brother Robert (and his wife Marie). She was predeceased by her sister Donna Labeck and her parents Evelyn and Robert Alm. A service to honor and celebrate Judith's life will be held on September 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Dryer Funeral Home, located at 101 S 1st St, Holly, MI 48442. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Judith's memory to the Grand Blanc Heritage Museum, an organization close to her heart. Judith Potter's legacy of kindness, dedication, and creativity will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
