Judith Mae Kenney

May 10, 1942 — March 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Judith Mae Kenney, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Judy took her final breath on March 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at Roseway Hospital. Born on May 10, 1942, in the town of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Judy was a beacon of strength and warmth to all who knew her. The beloved daughter of Harold and Norma Swim, Judy was preceded in death by her dear parents, her sister Carol Cox, and her great-grandson, Adam Thomas Swim, whose memories she carried with her always. Judy is survived by her son Thomas and his wife Muriel. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Chris Swim and Theressa Swim and her four great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, Judy was a dedicated worker, leaving her mark as a telephone operator and contributing to the community through her roles at Hatfield Market and various fish processing plants around Clark’s Harbour. Her work ethic was a testament to her character, showcasing both her determination and her commitment to supporting her family and community. Judy had a talent and passion for knitting, a craft she lovingly shared with her family by creating socks and "wristers" for the fishermen she held dear. She found great pleasure in a good game of cards and could often be found immersed in crosswords and word find puzzles, a testament to her sharp mind and love of challenges. Known for her quick wit and bluntly honest nature, Judy had an unparalleled ability to bring laughter and light to any room. Her candid humor and unwavering honesty endeared her to those around her, creating bonds that transcended generations. In keeping with Judy’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund, reflecting Judy's enduring spirit. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the VON home care team for their unwavering support while still at home and to the Roseway Hospital in Shelburne for the exceptional care provided in her final months. Their compassion and dedication provided immense comfort to both Judy and her family during this difficult time.
