In Loving Memory

Judith K Gustafson Lott
April 26, 1942 — August 18, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith "Judy" K (Gustafson) Lott, who departed this life on August XX, 2026, at Pemberly Place in Lincoln, Nebraska, after a brief battle with melanoma. Born on April 26, 1942, in Aurora, Nebraska, Judy brought warmth, grace, and love to everyone she encountered and leaves a legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.
Judy was the beloved daughter of Amy (Petersen) and Harald Gustafson, who instilled in her a love of learning and a deep sense of community and strong faith. She treasured her family and her roots in Aurora. Judy is predeceased by her devoted parents, her brother-in-law Garry Gimpel, and her former husband, Duane Lott, with whom she shared many cherished memories.
A proud graduate of Aurora High School, Judy went on to pursue her passion for education at Kearney State College, where she attended Teachers College. She began her career as an elementary school teacher at Fairmont Public School from 1963 to 1964, where she touched the lives of many young students. Her nurturing spirit led her to become a dedicated stay-at-home mother, where she was actively involved in numerous women's organizations and her children's school activities.
Judy was a pillar of her community, serving faithfully as a pianist for the church choir at the Fairmont Community Church for many years, and active in many women's community groups. Her music and her commitment to her faith brought joy and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory in their hearts: her sister, Arlene (Garry) Gimpel; her son, Jim (Jamie) Lott of Grand Island; her daughter, Linda Mitchell of Lincoln; and Judy's grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Lott, Shae (Liz) Lott, Skyelar (Haleigh) Mitchell, and Sage Mitchell, along with her great-grandchildren, DellaMae, Arlo, Isaac Lott (Michael's), and Lilly Lott (Shae's). Niece, Sarah Gimpel of Lincoln, and her nephew, Todd (Beth) Gimpel of Aurora, and their three girls, Trinidi (Gimpel) Wiarda, Laighla and Zoey.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Pemberly Place and Ascera Care for the loving care provided to Judy, with an especially heartfelt acknowledgment to Danielle, who was like a second daughter to her.
A service to honor and celebrate Judy's life will be held at the Aurora Bremer Center, located at 1604 L St, Aurora, NE. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Judy's memory to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
