It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Ellen Jewell, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Judith left this world peacefully on July 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 77 years old. Born on May 10, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Judith was the beloved daughter of Paul and Geneva Jones. Growing up alongside her siblings, Pauline, Rhoda, Charles and Robert, she developed a fierce, strong, and loving spirit that would guide her through life.  In East Detroit, Michigan, on November 7, 1970, Judith exchanged vows with her beloved husband, Willard Warren Jewell. Together they forged a life of love and family and moved to Indian River in 2001. Judith graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968, embarking on a life filled with hard work and dedication. She began her career as a welder, a testament to her strength and resilience, and later retired from Lucas/Delphi Diesel, where she skillfully managed data entry. Throughout her life, she was known for her remarkable work ethic and her generous, caring nature. Outside of her professional life, Judith was a woman of many passions. She had a keen eye for photography and a love for reading that transported her to different worlds. An adventurous spirit, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling, always finding joy in the great outdoors. Judith was also fond of bingo and flea markets, where she loved discovering hidden treasures. Her favorite television shows, Ink Masters, Castle, and NCIS, were often topics of lively conversation with those she held dear. Judith was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Geneva Jones, her sisters Pauline Hemphill and Rhoda Colwell and her husband Willard Jewell. Judith's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Richard) Kauffman and Tina (Raymond) Thomas, who were her pride and joy. Her legacy lives on through her six grandchildren: Kayla (Eric) Fink, Rachel (Michael) O'Neal, Rebecca Kauffman (Matthew Beckett), Madison (Brandon) Straight, Mason Thomas, and Hunter Thomas. Her love extended to her three great-grandchildren, Sophie Fink, Eloise Fink, and Hendrix O'Neal, who brought her immense happiness and pride. Judith's family wishes to thank everyone for their support and condolences during this difficult time. Judith's fierce determination, strength, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family and friends.
