Judith Ann Riggs
March 13, 1942 — June 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved Judith Ann Riggs on June 26, 2026, at the age of 84. Judy, as she was fondly known, passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, enveloped in the warmth and love of her family.
Judy was born on March 13, 1942, in the vibrant city of San Francisco, California, to Raymond and Kathryn Hall. She was the youngest sister to Tom, Richard, Sandra, and Peggy, all of whom predeceased her, and she is survived by her cherished brothers, Gary and Raymond Hall. Judy’s childhood was filled with a love for learning and a curiosity about the world around her, which continued throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Merced High School, Judy dedicated over 40 years of her professional life to the insurance industry, where she worked as a competent and trusted insurance agent. Her career was marked not just by her proficiency but by the lasting relationships she built with her clients and colleagues.
Judy was a devoted and active member of the Jehovah's Witness community, where her faith provided her with strength and comfort. Her positive, faith-filled attitude was a beacon of light to all who knew her, and she carried a large sense of humor that could lift the spirits of those around her.
Creativity was one of Judy’s greatest gifts. She spent countless joyful hours crocheting, painting, and crafting, often sharing her beautiful creations at local craft fairs. However, it was the conversations and connections she treasured most. Judy found serenity in nature, whether she was gardening, fishing, camping, or simply sitting by a lake, watching the world go by.
Judy was an avid reader of mystery novels and enjoyed the art of culinary exploration, often delighting family and friends with her latest recipe creations. Her dedication to family was unwavering, as she maintained close ties through letters and visits, especially cherishing the correspondence with her brother Gary.
Judy’s legacy lives on through her loving family: her children, Leanne (Roman) Attebury and Russell (Barbara) Price; her five grandchildren, Jennifer, Rusty, Laura, Kristina, and Justice; and her nine great-grandchildren, Hunter, Curtis, Henry, Darren, Derek, Minerva, Charlotte, and Piper. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
While services for Judy are being planned for a later date, the family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Chowchilla Memorial Healthcare District and Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care, providing comfort and smiles during Judy’s final days.
Judy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In remembering Judy, we celebrate a life well-lived, guided by faith, and filled with grace and compassion.
