February 16, 1942 — June 28, 2026

Judith Ann Alder, affectionately known as Judi, departed this world on June 28, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Born on February 16, 1942, in Montpelier Idaho, Judi's journey through life was marked by her vibrant, strong spirit, boundless creativity, and her profound ability to touch the hearts of all who knew her. Judi's life was one of dedication and compassion. A proud alumna of the University of Utah, she earned her master’s degree in Nursing, embarking on a distinguished career largely in the Public Health field. Her work was not merely a profession but a calling, as she devoted herself to improving the lives of countless individuals, offering leadership, comfort and care with her generosity and kind heart. In 1963, Judi married William L. Alder, the love of her life. Their union was a beautiful testament to laughter, weathering life’s storms together and undying commitment to one another. Together, they built a family rooted in love, raising two children, Bryce and Melissa. Judi was a woman of many talents. Her passion for crafting was evident in her exquisite creations as a seamstress, knitter, cross-stitcher, quilter, painter, and illustrator. Her works of art, lovingly crafted, were not only a showcase of her remarkable skill but also a reflection of her vibrant and imaginative spirit. She found great joy in reading and immersed herself in the world of books, a pastime she cherished alongside spending precious moments and long conversations with her family and friends. Her quick wit and larger-than-life personality made her the life of every gathering, spreading joy wherever she went. Judi was a beacon of love and warmth, and her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who were fortunate to know her. Judi's legacy continues through her children, Bryce Alder and Melissa Shaughnessy, her granddaughters, Olivia, Maya, and Rachel, and her great-grandchildren Margot and Grace. She passed just hours before her second great grandchild Grace was born but we know she welcomed baby Grace into the world. She is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Stats, and brother, John D. Dunn, who shared in her life’s journey with love and camaraderie. Judi’s family was the light of her life, her pride and her greatest joy. In honoring Judi's wishes, her family extends an invitation to join them in a Celebration of Life on September 12th (save the date) with details to be announced separately. This gathering will be an opportunity to share memories, celebrate her remarkable life, and reflect on the joy she brought to so many. Judi Alder's radiant spirit will forever be remembered, her legacy cherished, and her love eternally felt by all who were graced by her presence. We will miss her beyond measure.
