Juanita Fudge
November 1, 1919 — May 6, 2026
It is with profound sadness and yet a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Juanita Houston Fudge, who departed this life on May 6, 2026, at the age of 106. Juanita was born on November 1, 1919, in Palatka, Florida, to John H. and Melissa Houston, who preceded her in eternal rest.
Juanita spent her formative years in the nurturing embrace of Palatka, where her journey of life began. Educated in the Putnam County Schools, she carried the values of education, hard work, and dedication throughout her life. Her career path took her to Sanford, Florida, where she became a skilled seamstress at Pierre Sewing Factory. Her hands crafted garments that carried her distinctive sense of style—an impeccable fashion sense that became her trademark. Even after retirement, Juanita's commitment to her community never wavered, as she took on the role of a Seminole County School crossing guard, ensuring the safety of countless children.
In the late 1960s, Juanita dedicated her life to Christ and became a cherished member of St. Matthews Baptist Church in Sanford, Florida. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing her with a profound sense of peace and purpose.
Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Fudge, who she shared her life with in a marriage marked by love and companionship. Though their union did not bless them with children of their own, her love knew no bounds. She is survived by her stepson, Willie Fudge, devoted godsons Jeremy McCall and Orie Benett, and goddaughters Harrette Thompson and Tasha Sanders, all of whom she cherished deeply. Her lifelong friend, Chrissie Brinson, stood by her side through every season of her life, a testament to a friendship that spanned the decades.
Juanita's life was a tapestry of kindness, elegance, and unwavering faith. She was a beacon of style, her presence always marked by grace and her attire a reflection of her inner beauty. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Juanita H. Fudge will be held on June 20, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at St. Matthews M.B. Church, located at 3724 Main St., Sanford, FL 32771. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Juanita are invited to join in remembering her remarkable journey.
