In Loving Memory

Juanita Collins
July 15, 1949 — May 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved Juanita Collins, who left this world on May 4, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 15, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, Juanita was a cherished daughter of the late William and Gussie Washington, whose spirits surely welcomed her home.
Throughout her life, Juanita was a beacon of joy and inspiration, known for her quick wit and warm smile that could light up any room. Her infectious laughter and genuine kindness were a testament to her generous spirit, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood and a listening ear for anyone in need. She had the unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued, qualities that enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Juanita was a proud alumna of McKinley High School, where she laid the foundations for a life filled with not only education and hard work but also compassion and community service. Her career as a bus driver with Bi-State spanned many years, during which she safely guided countless passengers on their journeys until her retirement.
Her devotion extended beyond her professional life into her spiritual and community commitments. A dedicated member of Murchison Tabernacle CME Church, Juanita served as a Missionary and proudly held the position of president of the Dotcy I. Isom Usher Board. Her faith and service were central to her life, providing a guiding light to those around her.
Juanita was a woman of many passions. She loved shopping, traveling, and enjoying good times with good people. Her zest for life was contagious, and her "gift of gab" was legendary among friends and family alike.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Gussie Washington, and her cherished daughter, Tajuana Patrice, whose memories will forever be treasured. Left to celebrate her life are her devoted son, Juan Pierre, her loving brother William Jr. (Mary), and her dear sisters Lola Mae and Mary Jane 'Janie' (Otis). Juanita was also a proud grandmother to five beautiful grandchildren(Kameron, Jasmine, Jada, Kristian and Alivia Wyms) who brought immense joy to her life.
Juanita's life was further enriched by her marriages to Larry Wyms and Teddy Collins, who were significant parts of her journey.
A service to honor and celebrate Juanita's remarkable life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Murchison Tabernacle CME Church, located at 7629 Natural Bridge Road, 63121. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are welcome to join us as we pay tribute to her enduring legacy.
In this time of sorrow, the family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at McClendon Mortuary and Cremation Services for their compassionate care. As we mourn Juanita's passing, we find comfort in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. "Forever in our hearts."
Juanita Collins will be dearly missed, but her love and light will continue to shine brightly in our memories and our hearts.
