Joyce Roberta "Berti" Forchion, born on October 13, 1982, in New Jersey, left this world peacefully on October 28, 2026, at Jackson Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born to the late James and Joyce Bendross Forchion, Berti was a radiant soul whose presence left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
A proud graduate of New World School of the Arts and Rutgers University, Berti's career was a testament to her passion for communications and community service. As the Director of Public Affairs at Florida Memorial University, she was instrumental in shaping the institution's outreach and impact. Her talents were further showcased in her roles at Sonshine Communications and Helen B. Bentley Family Health Center, where she brought her expertise in administrative and public relations to the forefront. Berti's love for writing found an outlet in her articles for the South Florida Sun Times and other publications, where her words resonated with many.
In 2012, Berti embarked on a new journey by founding The JR Forchion Group, a boutique communications company in Miami. Through her company, she offered public relations, business consulting, and event production services, leaving a legacy of professionalism and creativity in the industry.
Berti's life was enriched by her love for the arts. An accomplished ballerina and choreographer, she captivated audiences with her grace and passion for dance. She found joy in reading, music, and the arts, often attending museums and festivals, where she found inspiration and solace.
A cherished member of Faith Community Baptist Church, Berti's faith was a guiding light in her life. Her beautiful smile and warm demeanor were her trademarks, and she had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel valued and welcome. Her kindness and compassion will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Berti is survived by her loving fiancé, Rico, and her devoted siblings, Marty, Vashti, and Guy Forchion. She leaves behind her Aunt Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall and Uncles Raymond Forchion and Bennie Bendross, along with his wife Yvonne, who will forever cherish her memory.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Richardson Funeral Home, Jackson Memorial Long-Term Care Center, and Jackson Memorial Hospital for their care and support during Berti's final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Berti's memory to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Berti's life, where her family and close friends will gather to remember the light she brought into their lives. Her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
