With heavy hearts and profound gratitude, we honor the life and legacy of Joyce Patricia Brown, who passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 12, 1948, in Washington, DC, Joyce was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph R. Jackson Jr. and Blanche L. Oden. She is now reunited with them in eternal rest.
Joyce's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy found in both her family and her passions. She was a beloved sister to Joanne Butler, Joseph Harrison, Joseph Jackson III, and Joseph Jackson, and a devoted mother to Yolanda Palmer, Kenneth Graham (Terrie), and Lovell Blair. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Patrice, Wayne (Porsche), Tianna, Jamaun, Kenneth Jr., Josiah, Khalea, Cameron, Devin, and Ava, as well as her great-grandchildren, London, Jemaine, Wayne, Langston, and Amira. Joyce's warmth and kindness also touched a host of nieces and nephews, who felt her love deeply.
Joyce was a proud graduate of Martha Washington High School, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with dedication and hard work. Her passion for culinary arts led her to a distinguished career as an executive chef at The Exchange LTD in Northwest Washington, DC. There, she delighted countless patrons with her culinary creations, leaving an indelible mark on the city's gastronomic landscape.
On February 20, 1998, in Brentwood, Maryland, Joyce married the love of her life, John Wesley Brown. Together, they built a life rich in love and shared experiences, standing as a testament to the beauty of partnership.
Joyce was a woman of deep faith, finding solace and strength in her relationship with God. Her favorite scripture, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort. Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God," was not just a verse but a guiding principle in her life. She embodied these words, offering comfort and compassion to all who crossed her path.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joyce's life on June 6, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Services will be held at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, located at 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. It will be a time to honor her memory, share stories, and find solace in the legacy she leaves behind.
In remembering Joyce, we celebrate a life well-lived, rich in love and purpose. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. We take comfort in knowing that she is at peace, embraced by the love of God and reunited with those who have gone before her.
