In Loving Memory of Joyce Marie Sporrer It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Marie Sporrer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She departed this world peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 78, after a courageous 12-year battle with cancer. Joyce was born on June 13, 1947, in Menominee, Michigan, to Lawrence and Marie Dugan. Joyce was a beacon of light and love, known for her kind heart and bright smile. Her journey through life was marked by her unwavering devotion to her family, whom she adored beyond measure. Joyce's life was a testament to the strength of family bonds, a lesson she imparted with her final words: "Stick together no matter what. Family is the most important thing." On June 6, 1970, Joyce married the love of her life, William Sporrer, at Saint Joseph Church in Porterfield, Wisconsin. Together, they shared 55 beautiful years filled with laughter, love, and an unbreakable partnership. They raised three wonderful children, Tina (Mark) Mech, Tammy (Jeff) Lowis, and Todd Sporrer, each of whom carries forward her legacy of love. Joyce was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Her nurturing spirit and playful nature made her a beloved figure in their lives, and her memory will continue to inspire them. Joyce's academic journey began at Menominee High School, where she graduated in 1965. Her professional path included roles at Emerson Electric and Fish Net and Twine, where she worked until she dedicated herself to raising her children. Once they graduated, she worked at KSU until her retirement, embracing each opportunity with dedication and grace. An active member of her community, Joyce was deeply involved with the Loomis Legion Auxiliary, where she served as treasurer for a decade. Her commitment to service extended to volunteering at Oscar’s hospital, where her gentle presence was a source of comfort to many. Joyce's passions were as varied as they were joyful. She delighted in gardening, found joy in playing and coaching softball, and cherished long walks with her loyal dog, Max. Her adventurous spirit led her on countless camping trips with family and friends, cross-country escapades with her husband, and even an unforgettable Alaskan cruise with her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Marie Dugan, her brother, Tim Dugan, her stepfather, Tim Dugan Sr., her daughter, Ann Marie, and her granddaughter, Shannon Mech. Joyce's surviving family includes her devoted husband, William, her children, siblings Jerry (Barb) Gilbert and Mark (Mark) Gilbert, and many dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate doctors and nurses at Bay Area Medical Center, whose thoughtful care provided comfort to Joyce and her family. They also wish to thank the friends and family who surrounded Joyce with love and kindness throughout her journey. Joyce Marie Sporrer's legacy of love, resilience, and family will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will remain a guiding light for those she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joyce's memory to a charity of your choice, embodying her spirit of kindness and giving. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor her enduring legacy.
