April 28, 1930 — June 6, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of Joyce Lucille (Carlson) Beck, who peacefully departed this world on June 6, 2026. At the age of 96, Joyce left us while sleeping peacefully, enveloped in the serene grace of her steadfast faith in her Lord Almighty. Born on April 28, 1930, in Clifford, North Dakota, Joyce was the last of a remarkable generation—one that epitomized resilience, community, and the enduring bonds of family. Joyce was the cherished daughter of Ludwig and Agnes Carlson, and one of nine children. Her early years were marked by the shared hardships and joys of farm life, where neighbors and family rallied together to support one another. This spirit of community and industriousness shaped her character and life’s journey. In November 1949, Joyce married Tilman Beck, beginning a partnership that would lay the foundations for a beautiful family and a life filled with shared dreams and aspirations. Together, they raised their children with love and instilled in them the values of hard work and faith. A woman of remarkable independence, Joyce’s life was a testament to her unwavering determination and strength. She was not only a devoted mother and grandmother but also an accomplished businesswoman. In Portland, North Dakota, she owned a café that became a bustling hub of community life, where friends gathered and stories were shared. Her work ethic was admired by many, and her commitment to maintaining an immaculate home was a testament to her passion for a clean environment, a value she lovingly imparted to her daughters. Joyce’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found solace and companionship in her Bible study group and cherished her involvement in various church projects, which brought her great joy and fulfillment. Even in her later years, when her body slowed, her spirit remained vibrant, and she enjoyed the simple pleasure of playing Bingo with friends. Predeceased by her parents, siblings—Arvid, Almer, Odell, Mervin, Vernon, Eline, and Delores—her beloved daughter Doreen Luke, and husband Verne Luke, as well as Dale Beck and Linda Beck, grandson Michael Beck, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, Joyce is now reunited with them in eternal peace. Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted children, Dennis Beck and Rowena Beck, Dale Beck and Charlene Beck. Granddaughter-in-law Bridget Beck. Her loving grandchildren, Jeremy Beck and Cheryl Beck, Donovan Kroeplin and Pam Kroeplin, Nicole Kroeplin, and Kent Kroeplin with Rhonda Kroeplin, as well as 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends, will continue to celebrate her life and carry forward her legacy of love, hard work, and faith. A service to honor Joyce’s remarkable life will be held on June 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Bolgers Funeral Home. Family, friends, and all those who were touched by Joyce’s warmth and kindness are invited to join in celebrating the life of a woman whose love knew no bounds and whose spirit will forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Joyce’s name, a fitting tribute to her life of giving and service. Rest in peace, dear Joyce, in the comforting embrace of your Lord. Your legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to inspire us all.
