In Loving Memory of Joyce D. Cameron It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce D. Cameron, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Joyce passed away peacefully at her home on May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 87 years old. Born on June 6, 1938, in the picturesque town of Kanab, Utah, Joyce was the beloved daughter of Hamilton and Joyce Draper. Her early years were filled with the warmth and beauty of her hometown, where she developed a deep appreciation for family and community values that would guide her throughout her life. Joyce's journey led her to the University of Arizona, where she pursued her education and met the love of her life, James S. Cameron. They were married on June 4, 1960, embarking on 43 beautiful years of marriage until James' passing. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Joyce's greatest pride and joy were her children, Jeffrey (and Colleen) of Texas, Jennifer of Morro Bay, California, and Jill (and Dave Segura) of Los Osos, California. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support were constants in their lives, as she dedicated herself to being a homemaker and PTA mom, ensuring her children had the best upbringing possible. Once her youngest child reached high school, Joyce embarked on a new chapter, working in the Alumni Department at Occidental College. Her husband affectionately referred to her role as "party planning," a testament to her exceptional ability to bring people together and create joyous occasions. Following James' passing, Joyce found solace and purpose in giving back to her community. She became deeply involved with the French Hospital Volunteer Foundation and was an active member of her church and Bible study group, where her faith and compassion touched many lives. Joyce's legacy lives on in her seven grandchildren—Matthew, Christine, Kevin, Ryan, Amy, Corey, and Ceilon—and her five great-grandchildren. Her love and wisdom will continue to guide them, as she imparted the values of kindness, empathy, and resilience. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Joyce's life, in accordance with her wishes. While her family mourns her passing, they take comfort in knowing that she was loved not only by them but by everyone fortunate enough to call her a friend. Joyce's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who shared in her life's journey, offering support and friendship. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Joyce's name to the French Hospital Volunteer Foundation, continuing her legacy of service and love.
