In Loving Memory of Joy P. (Myra Joy) Maclin (née Pierce) November 4, 1933 – July 18, 2026 It is with grateful hearts for a life well lived that we celebrate the life of Joy. Joy Pierce Maclin of Stanwood, Washington, entered into eternal rest on July 18, 2026, at the age of 92. She leaves behind a family whose legacy she spent a lifetime preserving. Born on November 4, 1933, in Lauderdale County, Tennessee, Joy grew up in Ripley during one of America’s most difficult economic periods. On November 12, 1950, at just seventeen years old, Joy married the love of her life, James Robert Maclin, Sr. Together they began a marriage that would span decades. Their first child, James Robert “Jim” Maclin, Jr., was born in Ripley, Tennessee, in 1953. The young family soon ventured west, making their home in Wichita, Kansas, during the height of America’s aviation boom. Their two daughters, Cindy and Lynn, were born in Wichita in 1958 and 1961. They later settled in Washington State, where they established deep roots. Joy spent much of her adult life in Bellevue and Duvall, watching Washington grow from quiet farming communities into thriving cities. She later established her home in Stanwood, Washington, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Joy was known for her strong opinions, her candid nature, and her willingness to say exactly what she thought. She also had a discerning eye for beauty and never lost her appreciation for the finer things in life. Horses held a special place in her heart, and she found lasting joy in the beauty of birds and flowers, which brought her both peace and delight throughout the years. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, S. Evard Pierce and Myra S. Pierce (née Stout); her brothers, Stephen E. Pierce Jr. and Jere D. Pierce; her beloved husband, James Robert Maclin, Sr.; her cherished son, James Robert Maclin, Jr.; and her precious grandson, Brycen Parker. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Maclin and Lynn Maclin; her daughter-in-law, Jane Maclin; her grandchildren, Katie (John) Gesick, David (Heather) Maclin, and Naomi Parker; her great-grandchildren, James Gesick, Emily Gesick, Kassidy Gesick, and Ian Maclin; as well as Tapanga and Eva LeBlond-Manzano, who were a beloved part of her extended family. Although her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in the hope found in Jesus Christ. After years apart from her beloved husband and nearly four years apart from her son Jim, they rejoice in the promise that she is now free from pain and sorrow. They look forward to the day when they will once again be reunited. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
