It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Josie Hernandez, who peacefully left this world on September 23, 2026, at her home in the loving presence of her family. Born on January 30, 1945, in Tulare, California, Josie graced this world with kindness, love, and compassion.
Josie was the cherished daughter of the late Julian Delfino and Irene Vega. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Vincent Hernandez, with whom she shared an enduring bond of love, having been united in marriage on September 24, 1966, in Tulare, CA. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey of life, raising a family enriched with love and values. Josie was also predeceased by her dear son, Robert Hernandez.
A proud graduate of Tulare Union High School, Class of 1964, Josie dedicated 35 years of her life to nurturing young minds as a Teacher's Aide at Wasco Elementary School District. Her gentle guidance and unwavering support left a lasting imprint on countless children, whom she mentored with passion and dedication.
Josie was an active and devoted member of Grace Community Church (formerly First Baptist Church) for 44 years and was also an enthusiastic participant in the Wasco Women’s Club. Her life was a testament to service, faith, and an unwavering commitment to her community.
She is survived by her loving children: David and his wife Griselda Hernandez; Anna and her husband David Lopez; and Michelle Hernandez with Art Vega. Josie’s legacy continues through her ten cherished grandchildren: Anisa Hernandez, Lydia Malanche with Ivan, Ariana Pinetta with Mark, Franque Jauregui with Erik, Jalina Hernandez with Anthony, Mia Hernandez, Sadie Hernandez, Mathew Hernandez, Valerie Hernandez, and Alexa Hernandez. Her family also includes eight precious great-grandchildren who will carry forward her love and spirit. Josie is fondly remembered by her sister, Mary Sinohui, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Josie's life was a tapestry woven with love for her family, where she found joy in their presence and well-being. She was a beacon of warmth and care, whose love extended beyond her immediate family to the many lives she touched.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Teresa Martinez and Debbie Parten for their compassionate care and support of Josie during her final days.
