February 7, 2009 — July 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Joshua Wright, who left this world on July 3rd, 2026, at the tender age of 17. Born on February 7th, 2009, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Joshua was a beacon of light and love to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Joshua was the cherished son of the late Alice and Sam Wright, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into the afterlife. He was preceded in death by his beloved aunt, Lisa Pollen; his cousins, Chase Wright, Aliyah Wright, Carlos Smith, and Tay Wright; as well as his dear grandparents, Helen and Author Hinton. While his time here was far too brief, Joshua's impact was immense, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and joy. Joshua's journey began at Edmond Elementary School in Chicago, where his infectious laughter and kindness quickly made him a favorite among peers and teachers alike. As he moved on to middle school and eventually graduated from Kenwood High School in 2020, Joshua's bright spirit continued to shine. His dedication to his studies and his love for sports, particularly football and track and field, were testament to his vibrant and determined nature. An avid sportsman, Joshua played football with an unmatched passion and energy. His teammates and coaches often spoke of his leadership on the field and his unparalleled sportsmanship. In track and field, he demonstrated resilience and commitment, always challenging himself to be the best he could be. Outside of sports, Joshua found peace and joy in fishing, often spending serene days by the water with a rod in his hand and a smile on his face. Joshua's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. We will forever remember his radiant smile, his generous heart, and his unwavering love for life. A service to celebrate Joshua's life and legacy will be held on July 7th, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church, located at 752 E 114th St. Friends, family, and all who were touched by Joshua’s remarkable spirit are invited to gather in remembrance of the beautiful life he led. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Joshua's giving nature and his commitment to making the world a better place. Joshua may have left this world, but his spirit and the love he shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
