February 12, 1982 — May 18, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Byran, who departed this world on May 18, 2026, at the age of 44. Born on February 12, 1982, in Utah, Joshua's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to family, faith, and service. Joshua was the cherished son of Dylan and Haley Byran, who instilled in him the values of kindness and compassion that he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, Lyla, who remained a guiding light in his heart. Joshua is survived by his devoted wife, Kyla, with whom he shared eight years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. He is also survived by his brother, Cole, his best friend, Jake, and a family that extended beyond blood—a community of friends and relatives, including his uncle Tyler and aunt Dolly, who were dear to him. Joshua graduated from Holly Grove High School in 2000, where he began to shape the character that would define him—a man known for his bright smile, his goofiness, and his deep faith as a man of God. His commitment to service led him to join the Marine Corps in 2012, where he proudly served his country until 2024. His time in the military was a testament to his courage and dedication, though it also left him with silent battles of his own. Following his military service, Joshua found joy and fulfillment in working as a youth teacher for his church. He was a respected member of The River Church in Durham, where his spirit of generosity and warmth touched the lives of many. Joshua's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing and hunting, activities he cherished most when shared with his wife and children, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Joshua's life, though marked by personal struggles with depression and PTSD, was a beacon of light and love to those who knew him. His goofy nature and infectious smile brightened the days of everyone around him, and his unwavering faith in God was a source of strength and inspiration. As we remember Joshua, we honor the legacy of a life lived with purpose and love. We find solace in the memories we shared and the impact he made on our hearts. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void, but his spirit will continue to guide us. A service to celebrate Joshua’s life and honor his memory will be held at a later date at The River Church in Durham. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to organizations supporting mental health awareness and veterans. Joshua Byran's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and resilience. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
