It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of our beloved Josephine Rodgers, who departed this world on August 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on December 21, 1941, in the vibrant city of Kingston, Jamaica, Josephine lived a life filled with love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Josephine was the cherished daughter of Elva and Damion Rodgers. She was a beacon of love and support to her surviving children, Gene, Melvin, and Delvin McPherson, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. As a grandmother, Josephine found immense joy and pride in her grandchildren: Tenise Wright, Shawn, Aldrea, Devin, Shemar, and Aidyn McPherson; Neriah Dunkley; Bryson Mitchell; Notorious; Precious; and Teseka Brown. Her family was further blessed with five great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored deeply. Josephine graduated from St. Catherine High School in 1959. She was known for her dedication and strong work ethic, qualities that flourished during her 25-year career at Disney, where she worked diligently in housekeeping. Her kindness, commitment, and the connections she made are fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of working with her. Faith was a cornerstone of Josephine’s life. For 20 years, she was a devoted member of the Cathedral of St. Jago in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Her involvement in the church was a testament to her faith, generosity, and the love she extended to all those she encountered. Her gentle spirit was a source of comfort and joy to her close friends, Marlene Walker and Vania Laguerre, and to everyone who knew her. Josephine’s love for life was evident in her passion for tending to her flower garden and her joy in gathering family for dinners filled with laughter and warmth. Her gentle spirit and warm heart made everyone feel welcome and loved, and her smile could brighten even the darkest of days. In honoring her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Josephine’s life and legacy. The family of Josephine Rodgers would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Spanish Town Public Hospital and its dedicated staff. Your compassion and care brought comfort to Josephine and our family during a challenging time. Your kindness and professionalism will forever be remembered and appreciated.
